19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to force a third set.

He defended four early-game break points in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
